Tell Michael Doyle that you used to listen to 950AM's Progressive Talk format!
Michael Doyle helped WROC 950AM change its format to progressive talk four years ago. But he has changee the station format to sports talk. Apparently they think they can get better ratings and hence more revenue that way.
WROC is in 18th place in the ratings. But it also has a weak signal. As you can see by this graph, done by the folks at Rochester Turning, signal strength is related to ratings (although one station -WDKX 103.9- has a 9 audience share and a weak signal). And the numbers don't tell the story of listener loyalty to WROC 950AM progressive talk format. It doesn't reflect whether people have it as their #1 preset in their car.
We don't understand what Entercom is doing. There is at least one other sports talk radio station in town (1280AM) but WROC 950AM is the only progressive talk radio outlet on the Rochester airwaves. It's time for the corporate office to listen to the listeners.
