Save the date and prepare to take action
in the Rochester tradition of Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony. Two years ago the Supreme Court, in Citizens United v. FEC, decided that corporations have the constitutionally protected free speech right to spend unlimited amounts of money to attack or support candidates for political office. This democracy-killing decision allows already unduly powerful economic forces to completely dominate the People’s electoral process. The US Constitution places sovereignty with the People and we will compel the high courts to conform to our guiding document.
Overturn Citizens United v. FEC
Corporations are NOT people
Money is NOT free speech
Move to Amend!
At this event we will dramatize the warping influence of money on our democratic processes and the need for an amendment to the constitution. If possible please dress business casual and do not bring signs or noise-makers. The message of Move to Amend is singular and non-partisan. All citizens in attendance will have specific roles and will be given the necessary materials that day. We plan to make this a unique and memorable event.
WHEN: Friday, Jan. 20th, 12:30pm
